WORLD ENDURANCE CHAMPION ANNOUNCED, AND IT WASN`T AUDI

Victory at Le Mans doesn`t always mean an overall series win, it just usually does.

Audi`s dominance of top tier endurance racing has become so complete in the last 14 years that it is now genuinely surprising when any other team wins anything, with the possible exception of Bentley`s 2003 Le Mans win.

2015 TOYOTA PRIUS C IS STILL COLOURFUL, STILL GETS 4.44 LITRES PER 100

Few vehicles can match the affordable fuel economy of the USD19 000, 4.4 litres /100kms Toyota Prius C, and that fact isn`t likely to change for 2015, as the Japanese company has issued a moderate refresh of its sub-compact hybrid.

As mid-cycle refreshes go, this is a pretty standard affair, with a larger grille and tweaked LED headlights at the front of the Prius C, and more expressive taillights at the back. Toyota made some minor changes in the cabin, updating materials throughout, but not fiddling too much with the overall level of equipment.

TOYOTA HYBRID: SEVEN MILLION AND COUNTING

Toyota has posted an impressive global milestone with confirmation it has sold its seven-millionth hybrid vehicle, further entrenching the Japanese automaker as the world's favourite car brand.

Noteworthy is the pace at which Toyota's worldwide hybrid vehicle sales continue to accelerate - the latest million-unit-sales record was achieved in a staggering nine months. As at the end of September the exact number reached was 7.053 million.

In 1934, the Toyota Motor Company produced its first product, an automobile engine in Japan, followed by a 2-seater vehicle in 1936 and called the Toyota A1.
The name was changed to Toyota in 1937.When the new company was registered, the newly formed word Toyota was trademarked at the same time. From September of 1947, Toyota vehicles were sold using the name Toyopet.
When Toyota entered the market in America in 1957, the name Toyopet was not well received as the name was linked to toys and pets.
The Toyota Motor Corporation was formed in 1982 when the Toyota Motor Company merged with Toyota Motor Sales. In the early 80s in response to taxes and tariff relief imposed by the American government Toyota, as well as other Japanese car manufacturers, began to build manufacturing plants in the U.S.
In 1984, Toyota also entered into a joint venture with General Motors called New United Motor Manufacturing, Inc. Under this venture they operated a factory in California, which had been an old GM factory. At the end of the 1980s, Toyota launched its luxury brand, Lexus and introduced a new logo for Toyota, which is used today.
The Toyota Motor Corporation owns Toyota and Lexus, as well as Scion, Daihatsu and Hino Motors.

There are at least 70 different models of vehicles sold by Toyota - coupes, sedans, trucks, vans, crossover vehicles and hybrids.
Toyota Products and Technologies
Not only is Toyota one of the largest companies to invest in hybrid technology and push hybrid vehicles into the market, it was the very first to mass produce and sell these vehicles in the mainstream market. Initially, only the Prius was offered as a hybrid, but over time, as the technology became more popular, more models came with that option. The goal is to have its entire line available with hybrid technology by 2030.
The first generation of Prius cars, which were compact sedans, went on sale in 1997 in Japan. By 2001, it was available in many other countries, including the U.S.
The second generation of the Prius was completely revamped in 2004 as a midsize 5-door lift-back. The current generation of the Prius, which has a much more aerodynamic shape, was introduced in 2010.
Toyota has also produced a plug-in Prius that will include a lithium-ion battery to give the vehicle an all-electric range.
