Remember that very un-MINI MINI concept?
It seems the automaker is examining the idea of creating a production version.
According to Reuters, MINI is really taking a long look at the possibility of a roadster joining the family. How soon? About six months, at least, according to the report.
It would certainly be an interesting move, as MINI is also considering reducing the number of models in its lineup. Still, if there`s a business case to be made, an automaker typically goes with the flow... the potential dollar flow. In fact, a new sports model from MINI like the Superleggera concept has made headlines in the past.
Still, is this just another drop in the brand dilution bucket for MINI? Back when they didn`t really on a stuck caps-lock key, the formerly British automaker churned about delightful small machines known for their fun good looks and excellent handling. The cars still handle rather well, and the standard Cooper Hardtop is still a handsome devil, but they`re not so mini.
On the other hand, adding a low-volume, electric roadster to the line-up could be wasted space on the assembly line at this point.
