It`s no secret that Porsche is developing a new flat-four engine. Being green requires downsizing.
And, knowing Porsche, it`s figured out a way to maintain the ideal power and performance balance while cutting down consumer costs at the pump.
But still, the thought of models such as the Boxster and Cayman not having a flat-six available is something we may have to get used to. Want proof this will likely happen?
Neither of these Boxster/Cayman test mules has a familiar engine note, thus leading to speculation that Porsche is testing its new flat-four. Whatever this engine turns out to be, it doesn`t sound bad. It`s just different. Fortunately both cars are still more than able to go wicked fast around those famous sharp turns.
